Montrose Kia of Sheffield Master Technician Bill Barcklay has advanced from a field of four hundred national candidates to a select group of sixteen Kia Master Techs and will travel to Irvine, California from May 1st through May 5th to compete in the Kia National Skills Cup Competition. Four finalists from Irvine will represent the United States and compete against Master Techs from 40 countries around the world in the Kia Global Automotive Technical Skills Competition in Seoul, Korea in June.
“Of the thousands of Kia technicians around the country only the best of the best earned the right to represent KMA on a world stage,” notes John Crowe, Vice President of Service for KMA.
KMC started the World Cup in 2002 to put Kia technicians front and center of their quality assurance initiatives. “Stronger technical skills lead to improved quality perceptions which eventually result in higher customer satisfaction. World class challenges produce World Class technicians,” states Kia Motor Company.
Bill, originally from North Ridgeville, now makes his home in Elyria with his wife Tina and two sons, Kyle (16) and Anthony (6). Starting as a Porter at Bob Morris Pontiac in the mid ‘80s, Bill brings over 25 years of experience to his role at Montrose Kia in Sheffield. His career as a service technician began at Conrads in 1987, performing general service and oil changes. He was hired by Tri-County Kia in 2004 and has been a member of the Montrose family for the past eight years.
